Someone Else’s House

Not-for-profit organisation Life Without Barriers wanted to give kids in care a voice within the organisation, the sector and the community to help improve the lives of kids in foster and residential care in Australia.

So we teamed up with popular Australia Hip Hop artist, Urthboy and created an integrated content campaign where kids in care could speak their mind and have their voice heard through the universal language of music.

Someone Else's House - Urthboy feat. Josh Pyke [Music Video]

“Someone Else’s House” is an original music track inspired by a social collaboration between kids in care with Life Without Barriers and multi award-winning Hip Hop artist, Urthboy.

image

The collaboration unfolded on a private Facebook group between young people in care and Urthboy, followed by a face to face session to share their personal stories.

Urthboy then teamed up with Josh Pyke and producer Sulo, to turn these stories into a track – all the while, sharing his progress with the kids over their private Facebook group.

With input from the kids, carers and Urthboy, The Precinct’s visual storytellers, Beto and Fernanda, used a hand drawn illustration style and cut out animation to explore the themes of hopes, fears and dreams expressed in the lyrics. The end result is a clip that is as emotive as it is engaging and demonstrates the artistic flare of this Brazilian duo.
