Last year, only 5% of applicants for the the Virgin Australia Cadetship were women so to help close the gender gap in the aviation industry, we created a video about their youngest female cadet to inspire all women with a passion for aviation to follow their dream and have a go.

“We came to The Precinct with a fairly open brief. What was delivered exceeded all of our expectations and was arguably one of the most beautiful pieces of content we’ve ever created. The documentary-style video of one of our younger female cadets told the story so perfectly and was overwhelmingly successful. We couldn’t be happier.”

An inspirational mini-doco about an 19 year old cadet’s journey towards becoming a VA pilot.

The Virgin Australia Cadetship is a fantastic program giving aspiring pilots an opportunity to train at an internationally recognised flight training school and obtain their qualification as a Commercial Pilot.

To increase the number of applications, specifically for females who last year made up only 5% of entries, we created an inspirational mini-doco about 19 year-old Virgin Cadet, Shelby and her journey towards becoming a VA pilot.

The content was pushed out over social media to reach the target audience. It received extremely positive engagement and earned a great deal of coverage for the program and Virgin Australia. It reached 1.08M with 483K views and 7,328 likes, comments and shares.

The number of applications for the 2018 program quadrupled, and the number of female applications increased for 5% in 2017 to 25% in 2018. Virgin Australia even played the video in-flight!
